The Middle East Wedding Alliance (MEWA) is the first of it’s kind consortium of wedding professionals in the region. With a growing community of professionals serving the weddings industry and private events, we most definitely needed a formal and collective representation. Being directed and driven by some of the leading established professionals, this alliance will spearhead the growth and opportunities for the wedding fraternity.
Through regular meetings, events, conferences and education slots in place, we strive to enrich the participants and bring the industry at par with the international standards as well as engage the community for exchange of ideas and to explore synergies. Created under the aegis of the International Live Events Association (ILEA), we are privileged to seek knowledge and information from their long standing presence in the region representing the events community as a whole.
As a founding member of MEWA as well as being born and raised in the UAE, I feel a sense of responsibility to give back to the community and drive the essence of Giver’s Gain within the fraternity. Through open communication and effective networking, we all stand to learn and develop in our respective fields. With a strong founding committee in place consisting of industry leaders, together with the support of our members and the wider industry, we look forward shaping and structuring the wedding fraternity to be prepared and positioned strong for the tremendous growth we see coming to this region in the near future. While we will work extensively to create awareness of MEWA and continue to grow our membership base, the key agendas highlighted for our first year is as under:

The MEWA mission is to advance and promote the wedding industry and its network of professionals across Middle East and beyond. To that end, we strive to;
Provide value to the membership through business-driven events and activities
Acquire and disseminate useful knowledge and business information to members
Cultivate high standards of business practices through conducting education and information workshops and providing other relevant information materials, with a focus on health and safety
Uphold the integrity of the events profession to the public through our Principles of Professional Conduct and Ethics
Work with, and where possible, advise Government and other organisations to adopt policies and practices that cultivate the optimum business and operating environments for the events industry and its practitioners
Foster a spirit of cooperation and collaboration among members and other wedding industry professionals
The International Live Events Association (ILEA) is the association for events industry professionals that are passionate about knowledge, networking and event creativity. ILEA was founded in 1987 in the US to help event professionals share and improve their industry knowledge. ILEA provides a platform for the best practitioners in the creative events industry to connect and share ideas. MEWA is the first of its kind consortium of wedding professionals in the region and has been created under the aegis of ILEA and will represent the wedding industry of the Middle East. It was created out of a need to regulate the industry, whilst also increasing engagement and opportunities. As well as access to exclusive networking events, MEWA will also offer mentorships, consultations and educational and training sessions, with its’ aim to become the voice of the wedding industry community in the Middle East. Membership grants access to a global network of 7000 event professionals, monthly educational and networking events and a platform for professional promotion of yourself and company as well as a host of benefits that will enhance your companies brand, expand your business network, increase revenue and elevate your personal knowledge and performance.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & ETHICS
All MEWA members subscribe to the MEWA Principles of Professional Conduct and Ethics.
Each member of MEWA shall agree to adhere to the following:
Promote and encourage the highest level of ethics within the wedding industry while maintaining the highest standard of professional conduct.
Strive for excellence in all aspects of our profession by performing consistently at or above acceptable industry standards.
Use only legal and ethical means in all industry negotiations and activities.
Protect the public against fraud and unfair practices and promote all practices which bring respect and credit to the profession.
Provide truthful and accurate information with respect to the performance of duties.
Use a written contract clearly stating all charges, services, products, performance expectations and other essential information.
Maintain industry accepted standards of safety and sanitation.
Maintain adequate and appropriate insurance coverage for all business activities.
Commit to increase professionalism and knowledge, to attend educational programs and to personally contribute expertise to meetings and journals.
Strive to cooperate with colleagues, suppliers, employees, employers and all persons supervised, in order to provide the highest quality service at every level.
Subscribe to MEWA Principles of professional Conduct and Ethics and abide by the
MEWA / ILEA laws and policies.
